Reimagining Basecamp's Home Screen
By Zoltán Hosszú · May 2025
Hey, everyone!
First of all: a huge thank you for the chance to tackle this exercise! Just by spending a week on it, I've learned a lot about the company — and even helped me pick up some new skills. I really value this opportunity, and I hope you like the results!
I've tried to focus on the following challenges:
A real destination
How can Basecamp’s Home Screen become more than just a transit zone? By elevating relevant information to the landing page, users can gain a clearer view of project status and their upcoming tasks.
Unsolved user needs
What use cases aren’t currently addressed by Basecamp’s Home? I introduced new elements aimed at helping project managers, individual contributors, and clients alike.
Celebrate too!
How can we highlight moments worth celebrating? Managing projects can often feel like constant firefighting, so I explored subtle ways to let users also recognize the wins.
Ok, let's see it!
I've created 3 user states, one for a brand-new user, one for an average user (as I imagine them), and one for a power user juggling many things.
Even though the prototype is fully responsive, it is not pixel perfect in every state.
Alright, enjoy!
Pro tip: start with the Average User, it has a cute onboarding ;)
